In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

The Light Show
Over the weekend we had visitors from Outlaw Hollow over to The Gorge. It was nice to show off the place and great to hear everyones typical comment to the deck, WOW. The awesome deck is a special place up in the trees overlooking and almost sitting on top of The Gorge. Pictures really don't do it justice, it's more of an experiance. My brother Dave said something I really liked, he was talking about what he called the light show. I'm sure he coined the phrase from what happens in Outlaw Hollow at dusk. The setting of the sun and the differant angles as it sets and casts it's rays through the forrest. Well, from the vantage of the awesome deck this phenomenon plays out spectacularly on the Gorge below and the canyon surrounding us. It's very hard to not just sit back and enjoy this scene, which lasts from when the sun goes behind the trees, and continues for at least an hour. Some things you don't plan, they just make themselves apparant after you get it done. The forrest is going bare in areas, opening sight lines into the Gorge, and it's becoming obvious that the view from the awesome deck is going to be stunning. This 1st change of the seasons is exciting, each season will have it's own special appeal here in the Gorge and I can't wait to fill in the blanks. SYITGS Hollohead

Lazy Fall
The recent light rains were needed, but wow did they slow down fall. Don't know how things will shape up now, guess I'll just watch it all happen. There is company on the mountain this weekend!!! yippeee. The wives are all in Eureka Springs for the annual gettogether in honor of my Mom, so all the men are on the mountain. Matt will get to play with Cooper and Lucy so he will be happy, and I get to hang out with my brothers. During my last 2 lazy weeks, I have at least got everything ordered and ready for the next big push. Rock is ordered, picture windows ordered, septic system on the schedule, the massive cedar log posts are soon to come out of the woods, and I have sources for cherry and walnut lumber. My next projects are; 1. install french drain 2.build front deck and shed roof 3. build and install ext. door and pecture window frames. Other items need completion, but I have to concentrate on getting the insulation done before anything else, and these projects must be done to do so. The siding is looking awesome, and Scott has done a great job. Pretty soon, the only thing left on the outside will be rockwork and wood ceiling over the decks. Well actually, there is also the front entry porch and all the cedar log posts, but I'm not worried about completing the outside. I'm working on the inside in my mind right now, and I can't wait to get started. I think I am just tired of the ext. projects, and will be inspired by the interior finish. Or maybe, I just need a hot tub soak.
