In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

Waiting Game
Good weather is here, and the wait for the site to dry is driving me crazy. So, today I will get a pump and begin pumping water from the footings. The snow melting is like a slow 5 day soaking rain and I'm hoping that it will stay dry through next week. Being a Kayaker, I am always praying for rain to raise the creeks. I feel like a traiter, but if I can get my foundation in then it can rain all it wants. The Osage is roaring down below us and has restored what was missing from The Gorge. With even minimum rainfall, the Osage runs almost continuously. Only in long dry periods does the hypnotic sound of falling waters disapear. I will try to get a video on here to set the scene. Our road has done well during this event and just needs to dry out for the concrete trucks to access the site. I am meeting with the engineer from the electric co. this week, and the state septic system guy also.
