In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

Digging the Piers
This is hard work, using a powered auger to drill the piers and cleaning them out with our hands. It's very important, but no fun. This part of a project always drags on for me, but it's called the foundation for a reason. The fun begins with the floor system, but for now we will concentrate on completing the foundation walls and piers. The concrete crew may return as soon as friday, and I have to be ready with all piers ready to pour at the same time as the walls. As soon as the foundation is complete, Carroll Electric will bring us electricity. I think the first thing I will hook-up is a hot tub. The wind was biting today and seems to go right through you, and sometimes the only way to warm up is a good long soak.
