Long Hard Day

Got the  logs beside the picture windows and I wrote a long blog this morning that somehow disappeared , very frustrating. Just a tough day all over as I started installing the stairs, simply put, this is one of the hardest things in carpentry I have ever done. I am averaging about 3 hours per stair tread, that means 48 hours of hard intense labor unless I can speed it up.  I am so mentally wasted that I will catch this up later, so enjoy the pics.

This is my 200th post since I began this blog over 1 year ago, I wonder if I would have been done if I had worked instead. But no matter, were getting close and it's awesome.  A lot has been accomplished the last week, we began installing hardwood flooring and completed Matt's room and the master closet quickly. This is going much faster than I estimated, and should take no longer than a week to complete. I got the cherry and walnut flooring direct from the factory in Harrison, and I am so impressed with the quality and ease of installation of this product. We are so lucky to be able to buy direct from Arkansas Wood Products who ships native walnut and cherry flooring all over the USA, and oh my god are they beautiful. At the end of this week we should have the 1/2 logs in the awesome room installed, all the window trims completed, and most of the flooring installed. It's also time to put up the massive logs that hold up the front entry roof, I'm not sure how we are going to lift them, but it's time. When they are in place it will really make the place look complete, and are the last item that I just have to have help with. My goal is to complete all of the bedrooms and bathrooms, and then finish up with the kitchen/awesome room area. The biggest project left inside is building the door jambs, and by my best estimate, there are around 3-400 boards left to install in the whole house. This may sound like alot, but since we had  already put up several thousand boards, we are on the downside of a massive pile. I looked back and remembered the huge bundles of lumber stacked in front of the house and thought if we could just make those disappear , we would be done. That is now a reality, and the piles of wood we make disappear now are very small and stored in the house. We took our first swimming trip to Steele Creek this weekend, about a month early and we had of course a great time. Saturday night bro Scott and our friend John slept out on the awesome deck, and all our kids had a sleepover up at the rent house. Can't wait to be able to wake up and go inside our new house and make a cup of joe, I'll probably sleep outside anytime that it's comfortable, which for me is anywhere from 40deg. to mid 60s, theres a lot of nights like that. Well, I'm off to see the wizard. Later Bros and Sis's. Oh yea, catch me at the Low Gap Cafe on May 19th, y'all come back now, The Hollohead RJ
