And Were Off

Awesome day in the Gorge, had 4 man crew including me. Set most of the joists for the first floor, and even layed down a few pcs. of subfloor. The goal for tommoroe is to complete  the first floor, then begin setting walls on saturday. I cant wait, the site is so awesome. The Osage is still running strong from the recent flood, and the sound is constant and soothing.  Unfortunately, the folk down at the Creek House are dealing with the effects of the flash flood. Hopefully they did'nt get it too bad. I wont have this crew for long, so I want to take full advantage of having some help. Tim and Daniel are a very capable team, and we worked well together.  A lot of progress will be made over the next week, and I will post pics to show how things are coming. I'm finding my groove and I'm fixen to make it happen.

Crazy Flood damage

Wow, I never have seen anything like this. Bridge over the Osage has sustained major damage and has washed out the approaches, the gaurdrails of steel and concrete have been ripped away. The Creekhouse at the put-in has been flooded and their lower deck washed away. Part of hwy. 43 has collapsed down to 1 lane on the way to Harrison. One of the Osage headwater feeder creeks flash flooded over hwy 43 on top of the mountain, inundating a neighbors home. A 17 yr. old boy is lost in the upper Buffalo wilderness, with his grandfather already found.  Witnessing this massive flood from our perch above the Gorge was incredible, and awe inspiring. The site drains fantastic, and I feel confident that we will stay put on the mountainside. We are praying for the safe return of the boy, and for the recovery of all those affected by this tragedy. Be careful out there.

Disaster Strikes Mountain

Flood Pics

Epic Flood

This is crazy, it has rained 7" over the past 3 days and the Osage is raging. But, right now it is raining harder than ever. I am going to see what the Osage looks like at super flood stage. Hopefully all the wood stays dry, theres not much I can do. I've gone out hiking a couple of times today, only to be driven back inside by the lightning. I still managed to get down to the creek and watch the flood. Theres supposed to be 2 more days of this before good weather, so my plan is to paddle when things go down to a saner level and then get to work
