In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

Decks and Roofs
Completed alot of small things yesterday, all of it leading up to completion of the entire roof system. At times it seems we are going too slow, but we are constantly making progress. By the middle of next week, Shed roof will be done, vinyl windows installed, fireplaces installed, roof completed around outside fireplace, and railing will be further along. It's time to make decisions on the HVAC and get him on the job. The cooler weather certainly helps productivity, and I will take advantage of it. Whitney, I am so glad the railing is growing on you, Robyn and I think its the highlight of the house right now. It's friday!payday!(for everyone else) time to get back at it. SYOTR hopefully soon!!!

Cool Air
Woke up this morning to wonderful cool air, the creek is still running good from the rain 2 weeks ago, and a breeze is stiring through the trees. Fall is coming, and I cant wait, this old man needs some cooler days to recharge and work hard. The Osage is a very cool creek, even in the summer it runs good with a little rain, and the sound of gurgling water really adds to the mystic of the site. I now know that I will have to come up with a bed on the deck becouse I will have to sleep out there alot. Yep, I will sleep on the deck, wake up and jump in the hot-tub, then take an outdoor shower. How cool will that be?

Shed Roof Coming Together
OK , so it's humid as hell. Dont matter what the temp is, I'm whilting. Pressing on though, shed roof is coming along and will be complete by thursday. Railing is inching along and I dont know when I'll be done. I estimate another 40 hours at least. I really want it to be right, and it is now. Next we need to complete the outdoor fireplace chase, install the vinyl windows, and patch up some ext. sheathing. After that its build the ext door and window frames and install fireplaces. When these issues are taken care of, we really move into a differant phase. The mechanics complete the rough-ins and then give it back for me to complete the interior finishes. But I'm getting ahead of myself, one thing at a time my man.
