In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

Footings are poured
The plan worked, we were able to pour the footings early enough so the hard rains expected tonight wont hurt the concrete. Sometimes you gotta have luck, and take risks. I made the call to go for it in spite of a forcast that called for a 90% chance of rain during the day, and a 100% chance for the night. Every hour that passes the problem of rain on the concrete diminishes. We got lucky, but I made the call after looking at the radar all morning. The crew did a great job, and it was impressive to watch them in action. The plan is to pour the walls and the piers next week. Plans are being made to bring in the first loads of lumber and to get electric service on site. A foundation in place is required for the electric co. to run a line to your site. The fun is fixin to begin.
