In 2011 I began construction of our dream home on the cliffs of the Osage Gorge in Newton County Arkansas. I designed the house around the incredible site and spent 2 years building the place as my full time job. I now live here with my wife and 9 year old son. The Buffalo National River is only 3 miles away, and we enjoy all seasons, hiking, paddling, and swimming in this beautiful park. Follow along on all the cool adventures and fun.

Spring is here, and so is the foundation
The foundation walls were poured on schedule Tuesday. I think we got a good square, level, straight, and plumb job from Corky Bailey and crew. It is always impressive to watch the pump truck do it's job, and Matt got to check it out since he's on spring break. After a weekend spent on the river with all the kids enjoying the full moon, it's time to get to work. I will order the framing package and the engineered floor system today. While we are waiting for them to arrive, I need to complete the piers. Also, the pretreat for termites has to be complete before we lay down the mudsill and begin framing. Carroll Electric has yet to return my calls regarding our power, but we have completed their requirements and it's time to get it done. Now the fun begins, everyday progress will be seen. There is alot to do to get going, including buying some tools to make things easier. I am also searching for some huge cedar posts, so if anyone has any ideas let me know. This is what I have been thinking of and planning for 4 years, but the real dream is being complete. I only wish that my Mom could have seen the dreamer's latest dream. She would have loved to sit out on the deck and listen to the Osage singing away.
